I love tutoring because it gives me the ablility to individualize each students program so it fits their learning style. If a students doesn't understand a concept when I explain it, I use other ways (other explanations and manipulatives) to help the student understand. I am patient and understand each student is unique and their program should be unique to them.
I graduated from Ball State University with a major in Elementary Education. I love working with the younger students in a classroom setting but realized I missed working with older students. I started tutoring at Sylvan at the high school level in math. After a year I became the Assistant Director of Education and comtinued to tutor in the evenings. My teaching style is defined by my father, a teacher and coach. Successful in both the classroom and on the athletic field, he made sure that each student and athlete knew what was expected of them. What was expected of them was a mixture of hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and success. Success measured not necessarily by winning, for example, but by doing the best one can do with the gifts they had been given.
