I am a senior mathematics education major at Bradley University. I have been tutoring both high school and college students for 6 years, and have had high successes in each level of math for many different students and learning abilities. Each student has an individual learning style, and my goal is to discover that and help students learn to learn. No one has to be "a genius" to learn math, rather they must work at it.

A Little Bit About Me...

Learning chemistry comes with pratice and I have helped students in the past with their weaknesses. I have conducte group studies for college students from the same the same lecture group to help them with their questions. I have also helped and guided students on a individual basis. My goal is to help the student understand the concept of chemistry he or she is having problems with. Most of the times I will help them solve problems from their text book or problems assigned by the teacher in class. I will also help the student understand the definition or concept he or she is having difficulty with. Knowing that each student works or learns differently, I work as much with the student to get them to their goals.

I love to put myself in the students' shoes. I have the ability to relate to the students on an individual level and they respect me. I always hope that no one is left behind just because they are afraid to ask questions. I believe in having fun while learning and in being honest with your students.

My teaching style is very similar to how I was taught, lots of examples with guidance. I was never given the answer, but given all the tools to necessary to complete the task. In most math courses, the problems themselves are not what you have to worry about, but the clock is the real problem. Therefore, lots of example and building confidence from those examples would be my ideal teaching style.
While earning my degrees, I was inducted into a honor society with emphasis on helping the engineering students in our department in several way. Our focus was working with companies for future jobs and offering free tutoring every week for all computer and electrical engineering courses that were junior level and below. Good teaching is as much about passion as it is about reason. It's about not only motivating students to learn, but teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. It's about caring for your craft, having a passion for it, and conveying that passion to everyone, most importantly to students.

My strengths are in teaching lower level math and statistics to students who don't "get" math. I have an easy-going, patient personality, and I firmly believe there is no such thing as a bad question. I am good at breaking math down to it's most basic level, and going through every step to ensure that you don't get lost. If a particular concept isn't making sense to you, I will try to find another (and another, and another...) way to explain it until it does make sense. I have reference information from previous students who can attest to my teaching methods, if you so desire. Teaching is what I want to do for the rest of my life, so please, if you're struggling with anything I might be able to help you with - contact me!
