I believe the best way for students to learn is by doing and discovering the material hands on as oppose to being lectured to. I like to instruct demonstrate the learning material to my students intially, but after that i prefer to have my students try the material themselves so they can see and understand what aspects of the material they dont understand. That helps me pinpoint what i need to focus on as far as helping them with a particular area of miscomprehension. I strongly believe in learning by doing instead of learning by seeing. Writing is one of my top subjects! I have personally always loved writing, and I extend that enthusiasm to my students. I begin with topics they enjoy which makes it easier to incorporate learning the structure of composing.

For over 15 years I've taught children from kindergarten through eighth grade in various settings. The majority of years I worked with first through fourth graders so I have accumulated experience in reading, math and language arts. I've spent several summers working through an area college helping grade school children make progress in areas they found difficult in the classroom environment. I've also spent two years tutoring in a classroom setting.
If I had to put a label on my teaching style, I would call it interactive. I believe children learn best if they are actively involved in the learning process.
