A Little Bit About Me...

I am a currently a working civil engineer specializing in bridge design (steel and concrete structures). I received scores of 760 in Math on both the SAT I and II, and a score of 800 in Math on the GRE's. I have taken several high level calculus, engineering mathematics, and statistics classes at the University of Delaware, aside from receiving a 5 on both the Calculus and the Statistics AP Exams. I have tutored elementary students in the past, and was part of a 'teaching scientists' after school company briefly in college.
I believe in talking through problems using visual ideas and simplified concepts. I prefer teaching with graphics and concepts, and then relating them to formulas and equations. While I expect hard work from my students, I also have the patience to help them understand at their own pace.

Everyone does not learn at the same pace or through the same exposure to material. My teaching style emphasizes the differences between children, especially with regards to learning styles. Different children comprehend and understand in unique ways - while one may understand best from tactile or visual demonstrations, others learn best simply by hearing. Even within the same student, certain concepts are best understood in atypical ways.
