Gayle Evans is a certified Barton tutor. She has a driving passion to teach dyslexic learners, empowering them to overcome their fears and thrive the way they were meant to. Upon finishing a busy era of home educating her own children, after the fact, she realized at least two of her children had dyslexia. During that time, dyslexia was misunderstood and not well supported. Attending an introductory Susan Barton seminar explaining dyslexia left her on the edge of her seat with a new mission in life. She began as a volunteer tutor at a public charter school in San Jose, working with dyslexic students using an Orton-Gillingham based intervention. I am seeking my teaching certificate and will receive it by the end of the next semester if not before. My strong suit has always been reading, spelling and phonics and was NC state spelling bee champion.
