My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have experience in writing poetry, namely slam. I also have studied poetry in classes and on my own.

I have taken creative writing and journalism courses. I have experience in the journalism field, and won an award for one of my stories. I have also done much writing on my own, including writing a full-length novel (in the works of being edited with hopes of publication). I am an avid reader and my reading comprehension/writing scores on tests have always been well above average.
I work hands-on, using examples. However, I am readily able to adjust to new learning styles!

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can be expressed as hands on, or even proactive. I like to get to know my kids and figure out how I can best teach them. There are three different learning styles and I like to involve each of them when I teach. It's important to me to have a good balance when I teach to ensure that each kid gets what they need from me. I believe that this strategy can be applied to the classroom as well.
My teaching experience has been centered around a field of a court. Since the age of thirteen I have been helping a wide age group of kids learn to play soccer and basketball. My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have already written hundreds of poem/ prose so I know how to incorporate the elements of poetry. Would have to talk to the individual to see what they wanted me to teach however to be able to tell if I would be the right teacher for the individual.

By doing this, the student gains confidence in the material more and more by knowing that while they may struggle in part in a certain area, there are also multiple areas of strength to focus on to increase academic confidence.
