I believe that science has a undeserved reputation for difficulty as a subject that is directly related to the inability of many teachers to "break it down". Science can seem to be like a foreign language to the uninitiated, but at its essence science is simply a way of thinking about the world and asking questions. Several themes appear again and again in concepts that on the surface may seem unrelated and it is recognizing these themes that is the key to success in building knowledge and confidence. I have earned a Doctoral degree in Medicine and a Masters degree in Public Health concentrating in Epidemiology and Bioststatistics. As a research scientist, some of the subjects that I had to do well in were math, biology, chemistry and physics. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently teaching anatomy and physiology courses to students training to become licensed Registered Nurses. The courses focus on basic science principles and the relationship of these concepts to human function and structure, clinically.
I have experience teaching at a university as a Teacher's Assistant in chemistry. The classes would meet before a test and discuss the analytical techniques of the course. I am currently teaching an Anatomy and Physiology course for nurses looking to pass the RN liscensing exam. My approach to teaching is centered around the particular goals of the student or students. Clearly, a course centered around a liscensing test will focus on the material that will be on that test. Otherwise, teaching has to be catered to the student's ability to learn the material and focus on the weakness in understanding the concepts involved in the material.
