As a recent graduate from Clemson University's Calhoun Honors College, I deeply believe in the importance of education. I graduated high school with a high GPA and a 1420/1600 SAT score, I was granted the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship to attend college, where I graduated in three and a half years with honors. Meeting the student where they are at academically and striving to help them succeed in school is my teaching style. That might require stacking up 100 pennies to teach about percentages; drawing pictures or graphs to teach how to do words problems in math; or making up short stories using the phonics and reading skills I’m trying to teach. Asking the student to explain to me what they are doing and why helps the student to “own” their work and see the need to understand what they are doing, rather than just filling in some blanks. So, basically, I try to find the student’s weak areas and help them build those up for understanding and academic success.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have completed courses in algebra, calculus, statistics, physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, cell biology, ecology, and other biology related courses all of which require a high math and science competency. I have also performed extensive research at UNCC and graduated with a 3.1. I have also tutored college students in chemistry and algebra on the side.
I come from a family of educators -- a college professor, a principal, an elementary school teacher, and a school counselor and basketball coach. I think all of these members of my family have influenced me in a positive way in regards to teaching. I am a compassionate, patient person and am willing to help when people need it.
