Over the years, I have been known as a good tutor because of my will and determination to make sure the ones whom I am tutoring are understanding the material rather than just remembering.For this, I have been known to be a strict tutor, but the significance of this matter is that I always have had students getting at least a grade level higher than what it was. For example, in the 8th grade right before a test to a classmate asked me to review the material that would be on the test, because she had not studied at all.I had ony 10 minutes to tutor this person but as a result, my classmate got a 85 out of 100. In this situation and every, I find out what can I use(weather it is something silly or funny)that help them remember, than I further it into giving them a better understanding of the material.

My comments on tutoring Psychology : I have tutored high school and 100 level psychology courses.

My tutoring strategies: -throughout my experiences, I realized that each person is different and require different teaching methods depending on the individual's preference -I prefer to use study skills that will benefit the individual; I have a variety of strategies depending on the subject as well. some individuals learn well using flashcards, while others prefer repetitive writing for memorization - I have had a couple of ADHD clients that prefer learning games and activities because it helps them stay active, but focused at the same time

I began my teaching career by completing a two year course of study in Early Childhood and then worked as both a teacher and as a Director at a Parent Cooperative Day School until my own children were in Middle School. At this point I returned to College and graduated with a BS in Psychology and a minor in English. I continued on and received a NC teaching license from UNCG. I found my tutoring skills when my High School aged son was home bound by an illness and I home schooled him for most of his High School Years. I have a 5 and 9 yr old sibling, I enjoy helping on school projects and helping with homework. While in college I often gave help to fellow students and aided in studying before exams.
I recently graduated and am working part time for a lab while I am continuing my education to get certified as a teacher. I hope to get a position as a biology teacher next year and tutoring would be a good way to get a bit more hands on experience teaching.
