While working on my Management MBA in Largo, FL I was elected head of the English Learning Center, and held this position for two years. The purpose of the center was to tutor international students in the English language and to assist them with paper and project revision. In teaching childbirth classes as well as CPR and First Aid classes I have utilized lecture, audio-visuals, written materials, and demonstration/return demonstration methods of teaching. I have found that each individual has his or her own learning style and I like to tailor the class to the individual's style as much as possible. I do believe that some type of return demonstration, whether it be verbal, hands-on, or written, is an effective way to assess the student's mastery of the subject.
