Although instructors/tutors have a preferred teaching style, I will often mix in some elements of other styles. If I wish to take a more open approach to my teaching, I include a blend of various styles which is very effective. Teacher-centered, where the teacher is expert and authority in presenting information works well with students who need little direction from the instructor, and/or those who accept responsibility for their own learning. I have been in some type of teaching experience for five years. I have interned at two Junior High Schools and one High school. I have also completed my student teaching in English at a Junior High school. I currently tutor a friend’s sister in English and I have worked with students since I was a Sophomore in High School.

I have been a math and physics tutor at Gateway Community College since 2008 and I have experience in various different styles of tutoring. All the students that I have tutored have seen at least 2 letter grade increase.
I love to use examples when I teach and I encourage the students to find their own mistakes. I think that once they can find their mistakes, they have a good grasp of the material. Through my experience with various different types of students, I have learned to adapt to their way of learning. Some may prefer practice while others may prefer hands on methods.
