My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I'm certified to teach K-8th.

My teaching career began as an Educational Assistant in 1977, in the state of California. Because of my daughter's medical needs, I was not able to finish my education as planned. Fortunately, I did not give up, I resumed my studies and in 2006, I earned my teaching degree. I'm endorsed in TESOL, Modern Classical Languages, and Bilingual Education.
I have high standards for my students, and I expect responsibility on their part. I have a good sense of humor, and enjoy hands-on activities.

My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I have a BA in English. Was also a Nanny helping children with basic learning skills.

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. I love the idea of being the person that has helped someone further their knowledge. I have always been a person that will take the time to teach someone something so they fully understand what they’re doing. I am patient, easy going and understand that everyone learns differently. I love teaching and learning. I made the Dean's List the entire time I attended UNM. I have always had a passion for education. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education, which has enabled me to teach kindergarten through 12th grade. I also obtained my master's degree in Literacy at UNM. I was a Reading Specialist for three years and love working with children and helping them with their reading skills.
