My comments on tutoring Elementary Social Studies : Have experience working with younger children as a Nanny.

While in College I was a part time nanny for a single Mom with twins. I started taking care of the twins when they were 2 and continued until they were almost 4. I was an assistant teacher part time at little playmates preschool daycare. During my time there I worked with the 2 and 3 year old class and the 4 and 5 year old class. I also helped the older children with homework. I was responsible for helping with meals, playtime and supervising outside activities. I also volunteered at the learning tree center daycare preschool where I helped with story time and art activities. I was a religious education teacher from 2003 to 2004. During my one year contract in South Korea I taught children of all ages, from 6 to 15. Working with children was very enjoyable and rewarding. My style of teaching is very upbeat and interactive. I also like to use different methods of teaching focusing on participation. I believe that children learn more if the class is lively and engaging. My goal is to make the class fun as well as educational. In Costa Rica I taught English to business professionals at several different companies. A Little Bit About Me...

While working as a assistant professor at a number of institutions (including the University of Chicago, University of Texas ,San Antonio and several others) I found I almost always had to teach my students how to take notes, how to read to locate crucial information and how best to structure written assignments. I have also had a lengthy career as a print journalist and have developed my communication skills to a fairly high level. I have tutored a few children of middle-school age but have mostly worked with college and graduate students.
