During high school, I scored a perfect score of 800 on both SAT II Math Level 2 and Korean. I am currently attending Normandale with a major in Liberal Arts with Emphasis in Mathematics. I hope to transfer to a 4 year university to double major in economics and mathematics.
I am very patient especially for students who learn slower than others because I was always a slow learner myself. I am very happy to repeat myself or go over other examples to help the student understand the concept. I also like to emphasize concept over memorization. Of course, math has a good amount of memorization, and yes, it is important; however, I believe that learning concept is more useful than sheer memorization, and understanding a concept is better than memorizing formulas and properties.

My experience as a teacher has been most in a foreign country teaching mathematics in several levels, since junior high School to senior high school. I also had taught Spanish in high levels. My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : As a tutor in the college-prep after-school program Upward Bound,I helped students with Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Trigonometry for 7 years, and know where the basic pitfalls are.

I taught college-level Plant Science for 14 years. I spent 7 years as a tutor of Math and Science at the college-prep after-school program Upward bound, helping students with homework and preparing them for the ACT and the SAT. I am currently employed as a Math tutor at a local technical college where I help students with Basic Math, Intro Algebra,Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trig and Elementary Statistics.
I start by giving a diagnostic test to assess each student's proficiency in the basics of Arithmetic and Algebra: fractions, decimals, percentages and the interconversion between them,and the rules of working with signed numbers. This approach stems from the notion that without these basics, Math is an uphill climb for most students. I place more emphasis on full work than answers.
