I have been very successful in academics throughout my education. I was valedictorian of my high school, and I received the top honors in English, French, and Accounting. I also maintained a 4.0 average throughout my college education. I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. I know that I have to be flexible and creative with each student. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I have taught mathematics, statistics and technical math for 15 years. Primarily my audience has been working adults seeking to take a certification examination. In my training as a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Quality Engineer, I use many mathematical models, including algebra, geometry, statistics, and engineering modeling. My teaching style is not memorization but rather practice. The best method that I found for teaching math based subjects is step by step work throughs for each problem. By taking the time to step through each math problem, the student learns the theory (Algebra, geometry, etc) as well as the solution. I am currently a graduate student in petroleum engineering. As an undergrad I worked as a mentor for a freshman in my major, helping him cope with school and advising him of the courses he needs to take. I also provide tutoring when needed. In high school I was part of a program called PEPP where high school students provided tutoring to middle school students. I was also involved in a program developed by my school's Honor Society where we tutor our peers in math and science courses. Additionally, I was a summer camp counselor for three summers and I was responsible for coordinating various activities for the children each week.
