I have a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese from a well-known university in the U.S. I have about 20 years of experience teaching Spanish and Portuguese on the college level. This includes elementary and intermediate levels, conversation, composition, literature, culture, film and medical Spanish. I also enjoy tutoring younger students. I lived in Brazil and have traveled extensively all over Latin America, Spain and Portugal. I am a native speaker of English and would enjoy tutoring ESL again. I have taught GED and tutored in Math, English and Social Studies. I got very high scores on my math ACT.

I have had many years of experience in the classroom, and with many different programs. I also have tutored previously for Sylvan tutoring. I have a very unique way of teaching. My key to success works on a system of discipline and rewards. I find creative ways to make the most mundane tasks fun to accomplish. I think the number on rule in teaching strategy should be finding a way to make the process enjoyable. I believe most kids that do poorly in school have an incredibly hard time putting their hearts into tutoring. In my professional experience, it is almost like pouring salt on the wound when they don't do well in school and then have to suffer through more torture after school.
