My comments on tutoring Writing : In addition to teaching students some great skills to develop their writing, I also teach them how to develop good research habits. Writing papers doesn't have to be like pulling teeth!

I'm very laid back, but I know how to get results. I have always been a very disciplined student, but I realized pretty early in my academic career that unless I make the subject interesting for me, I'll never grasp the material. I make it a point to get to know every student so that I can personalize their learning style. The only way they'll learn and understand something is if they WANT to do so. I offer a different approach to things that students may not get in the classroom, to hopefully expand their interest in a subject they never thought they'd like.

Helping your student feel good about themselves

My style of teaching is patience, understanding individual needs, and building self confidence in the student. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, ad 4th grade for 10 years in Ascension Parish and St. Tammany Parish. I have taught 12 years as a Reading Interventionist specializing in the Voyager program using small group settings. My plan uses diagnostic tools to determine a starting place for each student to determine needs.
