A Little Bit About Me...

I recently have spent the last six months in the Head Start Program as a center teacher. We prepare them for kindergarten. I have taught all grade levels. I currently have a BA with a concentration in K-8 education. Due to online classes, I have written hundreds of research and essay papers using APA style although I have helped my son use MLA which I can write in effectively.
Teaching mainly K-8 on a consistent schedule, I have learned that some students need one-on-one teaching. Being the third teacher in Head Start, I had time to work with individual students. I have recently graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Bachelor of Science and teacher certification degree. I student taught during the fall '09 semester. Student teaching provided many opportunities to work on various teaching techniques. The student teaching semester consisted of; leading the class in discussion on a daily basis, creating worksheets, conducting lab experiments and other activities, grading homework and tests, and much more. In 2006 I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Engineering Science. It gave me an understanding in a broad range of mathematical areas as well as areas of other sciences. During that time I worked with volunteer organizations like Salem Housing and Habitat for humanity for three years, which enabled me to mentor a variety of ages. In the last year I've worked with a homeschooling group on a project called, "Leaping Lizards."
