Elementary Tutor

I was an early childhood classroom teach for 1 1/2 years. Recently,like focusing on individual students I learned that working in a whole group classroom is not for me. I tutored my high school peers informally (without pay) as the President of the English Club at Guthrie Public High School, but I have recently started tutoring middle grade children as well as high school students. I scored a 31 on my ACT, was awarded the Smithsonian English Award, and I am currently enrolled at the University of Central Oklahoma as a Creative Writing major. My tutoring subjects include English, Reading, Writing Skills, and Study Skills for middle grade children. I also tutor for high school students and college students who need help writing essays, research papers, or preparing for the English and Reading sections of the ACT.

A Little Bit About Me...

Love working with children to help enhance their reading ability. I have worked through various reading tutor programs such as Freedom School and One on One Learning. I enjoyed every minute of it! It is important for children to master this skill to be able to function in everyday life situations. I have constructed lesson plans and activities that went along with the book of the week to help with the understanding the plot of the story.

I'm a freshman at Southeast High and I'm in ROTC.

I've never tutored for money, but I usually help my friends out with homework, school work, ect. I just need the money, so I figured why not tutor? It seems fun. So, I got on here, and viola! Here I am! So. yeah. Not much paid experience, but I'm willing to negotiate on prices!!! I will have the occasional weird times when I will not be available ,thanks to JROTC, but most of the time I'll get out of school at 2:15-ish.
I just do what works for the students. I find it easier to teach shyer kids, because that's how I was, but, I'm always up for a challenge!! Also, elementary kids are easier, but again, always up for a challenge! I usually try to figure out how they learn, maybe through a hobby, or something like that.

I find diffrent ways to help children understand what they are learning in a fun way.
Throw out my high school year I was in a program called “Learn and Serve”. This program consisted of going to the closest elementary school for an hour a day and be a teachers aid. Therefor, I help any student who was having difficulties. In some cases would even help teach a lesson if the only adult in the room was a sub teacher.
