I have worked as a tutor for 10 years in all subjects, especially focusing on ESL learners. Recently, I have worked in an ESL school (FLS International) with university age students seeking to matriculate into American Universities. Before that, I worked in South Korea teaching English. While employed at these schools, I also work part-time as a tutor- mostly for middle and high school age students. Many of my students struggle with time management, and this is a main focus in my tutoring sessions.

In college, the focus of my degree was creative writing and social action. I gained extensive experience researching, writing narrative and informative papers and determining how to use the information most effectively. My creative work has been presented locally and at international conferences. After finishing my BA in Human Communications, I realized I wanted a better education for my daughters than the local school district could provide. In college I was a nanny to three middle school students for two years. While being their nanny I was also their tutor in all subjects but focused on math. I graduated from SJSU with a major in History and a minor in Mathematics. I substitute taught in January and February 2007 then was a long-term substitute from March until the end of May in a sixth grade math, science, and history combination class. For the past two years I have taught eighth grade Algebra. While teaching I have also tutored a sixth grade student in math.
I believe there are multiple learning styles. One of my goals as a teacher is to find each students' learning style and teach to fit their needs. I believe that practice makes perfect but also that learning needs to be fun. I set the bar high for my students and do my best to help motivate them to reach a high standard.
