It definitely is important to combine styles. I use direct instruction, as well as guided instruction, and groupwork. Positive Experienced Tutor

I am the mother of 3 children, two with college degrees and one currently in college. I was very involved throughout my children's school years, volunteering in the classroom, tutoring, etc. I have also tutored privately since my children left school. Prior to having children, I was a Systems Analyst for Servistar Corporation, and returned as a consultant for them for three years betweent my first and second children.
While I am not a teacher by profession, I have successfully tutored a variety of leraners in a variety of subjects, primarily math, english, science. I enjoy working with people and helping them learn in ways that reach them and help them gain understanding and ultimately success. have taught grades k-12 on an emergency basis. may be in one day for fourth grade helping with their studies and the next day be in for high school physics where I basically assign paperwork or might give a test. Teaching is my passion. I strongly believe that every moment is a teaching moment, whether or not it is intended to be. I have a BS in business and can tutor in any business related fields. In addition, my original college major was physics. I can and have taught physics, math, (up to differential equations) and physical sciences. I have also been an ameteur astronomer for 40 years and can teach courses in this dicipline.
