A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent graduate form BYU-Idaho, I have gained a greater appreciation for how important it is to learn the basics of math and science in order to succeed. I have earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis in automation and robotics. The classes required to earn this degree have required an advanced understanding of linear Algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, and technical writing. In addition, I have formally tutored statistic students
I believe that when the basic concepts of math and science are mastered, the complex concepts become simple. These subjects also need to be taught using real life examples so that students can see the importance of learning them. Teaching is in my blood. Both my parents were teachers. My father was a college professor and my mother was an elementary school teacher. As a PSR working in the school setting I students that were considered by some as untrainable. Often the students believed they were unable to learn or were dumb since they had always been told they were. I was able to work with some of the most difficult. I would make up games and contests to get them to try something. I believe in lots of encouragement and was recently told by one of my former clients, who couldn't read or write in the 7th grade, "I am really going to graduate this year. I knew I could do it because you showed me I can do it." She did too!
