Sept. 1987 to February 1988- Substitute teacher for San Diego Unified Schools. During this time I instructed all areas of curriculum in grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.I also worked in many GATE and Seminar classes during this period. May 1988 to January 1989- Tutor at Windsor Learning Center Inc. At Windsor I planned and executed learning programs for First through Sixth Grade students. I also taught students how to use the Apple IIE computer and to use educational software. All students have a variance in their learning style but I have found a cognitive apprenticeship/constructivist approach is a good style to start with. I show the student how to accomplish a task, then we accomplish a similar task together, and finally, the student shows me how to accomplish the task, with my guidance if necessary. This way, I really learn how the student thinks and comprehends information. All students need extra help sometimes. I happen to be a guy who loves to provide that help.
