As a recent college graduate, I understand the demands and expectations of high level educational achievement. I earned two bachelor degrees from the University of Maine, BS in Secondary Education in Mathematics and BA in Mathematics, and I feel confident that education has prepared me to teach a wide variety of mathematical disciplines. In addition to my education, I have experience student teaching in multiple unique educational environments and taught mathematics ranging from 6th grade math to high school calculus. During my last two years of college, I also held a paid tutoring position in a after-school academic program where I tutored middle school students in math, English, social studies, science, and music.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and love everything about Mathmatics especially algebra which happens to be my favorite concept in mathematics. I love working with children. I believe that all children learn in different ways and a teacher needs to make it so that all children can succeed by motifying the way the introduce something so that it can be explained a different way so that those who learn differently can have the opportunity to learn the material. I think that all children can succeed if they are given the change to learn the way they learn best. One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). PSC is a behavioral health agency that serves at-risk school-aged children and their families. Soon after arriving in NC in 2008, I obtained my Birth-K teaching lisence and, in 2009, began teaching full-time for the More-at-Four Pre-K program(www.darecountyschoolsonline). For the past five years I have been a substitute teacher for MSAD 58. Grade levels I have experience with include K through 12. While I have subbed in all subjects, I really enjoy working with secondary level students in mathematics. A few years ago I filled in for a high school teacher for six weeks. I even got to plan lessons and grade work. I really enjoyed the time I spent with these students helping them pass their Algebra Competency exams.
Because I have substituted at all grade levels and with all ability levels, I know how different each and every student learns.
