A Little Bit About Me...

In a nutshell, I taught high school English for eleven years. I am passionate about all facets of education in the classroom and the real world. I have much to offer my students whether it be a love of literature, grammar and vocabulary or life itself! I love to teach.
My teaching style is one of discipline and at the same time hands-on. Students must feel the relevance of the world around them in order to gain an understanding of what's being taught. I work with the individual but never let the focus off of the competition that's waiting. Students must understand that learning is an every day, every moment experience. It's all about how they see the world around them. I love teaching and working with children. The "aha" moment is what I live for. I believe that EVERY student can achieve what they set their mind to with guidance and persistence.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught either French or English, either in the classroom or as a private tutor, since 1989, when I was recruited as an undergraduate to teach Elementary French. For the next 5 years I taught all levels of French grammar and PhD readings, as well as first and second semester English Grammar and Composition courses while pursuing my MFA in Literary Translation (French and Spanish). I’m passionate about both French and English and have a strong desire to bring a love of and competence in both subjects to my students. My teaching, even in the classroom, is focused as much as possible on the individual student. As a long-term adjunct instructor, I have successfully cultivated an effective set of best teaching practices relative to the English language and Communications. My teaching style is a collage of teaching styles. I am well aware that students retain and use information in numerous ways. Sometimes, I facilitate from the side, allowing the students to take hands on control with the information, at other periods, I might lecture on the topic and then question and discuss issues provided from what was just read. One just has to be acquainted with the learners' style and then the subject, lesson plan, and displaying of information can be customized more suitedly, to the student. Any student can learn, they just have to have the information provided to them in a manner where they can retain it and make it useful.
