I am a 60-year old man who has taught every subject at every grade level as an artist in the schools for over 35 years. I currently substitute in all the grades in Hart County so I have had to demonstrate knowledge of every subject at every grade level. I have been in the classrooms of public schools every day for about 60% of my adult life. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Oberlin College with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Math. My experience has taught me that all children can learn, but often in different ways. Finding the mode of learning for each student is the key. I try to find different ways to present the information until the child understands. It is also important to review and practice in order to reach the learning goal. I am a patient teacher and respectful of each student. Most of my teaching experience has been in classrooms with students from the toddler stage through 6th grade. My favorite areas to teach are phonics, reading, and elementary math. However, in the passed five years I have tutored pre-school age through adults in many areas, and homeschooled all areas in elementary and middle school. I also taught English as a second language. I love guiding a student through some difficult or misunderstood content and getting the "ahha!" of understanding at the end.
