I have seven (7) years of musical experience in concert band, jazz band, marching band, orchestra, and pep band. I also have tutored through the Boys and Girls Club along with a program my college inacted for students who were hearing-impaired, mostly in the areas of math and grammar. I have also graduated in the top 10% of my class, both in high school and college. I have maintained a 3.0 GPA in both high school and college. My strengths are math and grammar. I am patient, considerate, and able to adapt to each child's way of learning to be able to help them understand what it is that they are trying to learn. I enjoy watching children learn and build on their learning each day. I also get a great sense of accomplishment when I see the child grasping the concepts they have been trying to overcome.

While some teachers favor a direct instruction approach, I try to tailor my instruction to the growing and diverse needs of each student. Some are more auditory learners than others, therefore, for those you would need a lot of teaching by rote, i.e "do as I do", so to speak. My paid professional teaching experince includes one year working as a Special Education Paraprofessional for 2-4 grade stundents classified with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. My undergraduate degree from Valdosta State University was in music education.

I am an n interpersonal teacher. I work with students on a one on one basis. When explaining a concept I am very referential. I also use parallels to help students understand the concepts. I feel that participation and self assertion can be a strong learning tool for students. I have just recently finished a Masters program in music education at Central Michigan University. I have been teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students for 5 years. My experience ranges from after school tutoring to long term substitute positions. My specialty areas are lower brass pedagogy, Composition/arranging, and jazz. I have work as a trombone and brass instructor for two Marching band programs.
