As a pastor,coach, and mentor of our community youth, I enjoy watching each person realize their individual potential. This is accomplished by identifying their strengths, but allowing each person to participate at the level they are comfortable with. Once I see a person's talents and interest, I like to proactively encourage them. I will press a person who recognizes their own potential into realizing that perfect practice makes perfect. First I try and determine what it is that the student does not understand. Next I try and evaluate the way the student processes infrmation so I can explain the problem adn solution 'in their language'.
In college I majored in Chemistry with a year in Physics and Biology. In High School I received the Chemistry Award. In college I gave drum lesson. I played for eighteen years. I was an art dealer for years and am very familiar with the various styles and periods of art which adds depth to the teaching process.

I have been volunteering in Haiti for eight years. I am keenly aware of the challenges Haitians face in their home country. Our work involves delivering resources to help people help themselves. Specifically, our programs in Haiti teach people who are economically disadvantaged how to raise and care for livestock. In addition, however, we teach small business best practices.
My teaching style is patient, low-key and respectful. I generally assume that if a student is having trouble understanding, it is my approach that needs refining. That said I believe that education is wonderful gift and is to be taken seriously. I set high expectations and expect students to be respectful and participate.
