A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I was a child, I have been passionate about everything English: books, writing, and grammar. I followed my passion and earned both my BA at a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania where I was encouraged to continue my education to the Master’s level. At SUNY, I decided that teaching was the only career path with which I would be happy. Over the past six years (during both my BA and MA), I have been in the positions of discussion leader (leading to a better understanding of the literature students were reading), Writing Center tutor, and First-Year Composition instructor.

I come from a teaching family, and continue to learn from teachers myself. I feel that because I am still eager to continue to learn new things, I can appreciate a good teacher. I myself need good teachers, and I would not provide a student with anything but that. I am a hard worker and give 110% for every job that needs to be done. While at college, I was a member of the Americorps program in which I completed over 300 hours of community service. During that service, I had roles as both a student and a teacher. I have the experience of working with all types of people and children, and sincerely enjoy working with people in a teaching setting. A Little Bit About Me...

I try to tailor my style to the student. Each student I had tutored when I was in college I had basically spoke with them, got to learn what they strong points were, their weaknesses, and areas that needed more base learning. I tailored lesson plans to help fill in their educational gaps, created small weekly assignments, and also helped with their current homework/lesson plan. I believe everyone learns in different ways. Some are more visual, others are more auditory so I tried to not only explain but also show by using whatever tools necessary/applicable (graphs, pictures, charts, etc.)
My love of mathematics began while I was in elementary school--I looked forward to those classes and took as many as I could from my high school, Wyoming Area.
