I love to learn, which is why I love teaching children. Every child learns differently, because of this, teaching is a learning process as well! I believe that students learn best through hands on activities that allow them to internalize the concepts they are struggling with. Whether it is using math manipulatives to understand multiplication and division or using letter tiles to understand consonant blends in reading, hands on activities are the best way to learn. As an education major at Berea College, I volunteered my services as a tutor three nights a week in addition to my student teaching and education courses. I was also a Pre-Kindergarten teacher during the summer terms while I was in college. I am certified to teach all subjects grades K-5. I have my masters degree in Reading and Literacy Instruction. I currently teach Pre-Kindegarten in Lexington.

I have been teaching privately and in select groups for 8 years now. Have experience as a pianist since age 4, and an experienced guitarist and vocalist for 10 years. Have been through many years of lessons and competitions relating to performance and hav also participated in 2 years of marching and concert band as a 1st chair trumpet player. I stem from a very musical family, and my mother owned a music studio for 20 years teaching and my father is a retired band director of 32 years, having MUCH success with State Championships. I have tutored several children since graduating college for free as well, and have always enjoyed helping others learn and understand new things. I love children of all ages.
