I worked with a variety of ages from k-12. My most recent experience has been with students in elementary school. I worked for a semester teaching children about sustainable practices and the benefits of buying produce from local farms. Experienced, creative teacher who will make learning fun.

I spent one year as a day to day substitute teacher working all over York County in various special education classrooms. My second year was spent as a long term substitute at an alternative high school for boys where I taught all subjects. My third year I started teaching Specialized Preschool and did this for many years until I retired last year. My students had many exceptionalities. I had typical students visit my classroom every week to read to my students. I did leave Lincoln Intermediate Unit #12 one year to teach in Baltimore, Maryland. I taught kindergarten-first grade to children with Autism and speech issues. I have 3 grown children of my own who I helped in school.
I have a very hands on approach because I worked with small children. I believe children learn by doing. If they are interested, you won't have behavior issues.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love the art of teaching. I work with the student on an individual level, tailoring my methods to achieve maximum learning comprehension. Usually, I prefer to have the student figure things out for themselves using guided questions and logic. I feel that one of the most effective methods is, rather than lecture the student and provide the answer, I instead provide the basic materials of the problem and encourage them to figure things out progressively. I believe that anyone can learn if taught in the way that sits best with their learning style and thought processes. It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging. I make sure the time and place are conducive to active and non-distractive learning. I relay the importance and relevance of the material.
