Tutoring is a profession which I have enjoyed for over nine years, often while teaching in the classroom or online, concurrently. I was able to teach multi-subjects to college students because I excelled in all subjects myself, receiving numerous scholarship awards and honors. I chose after school tutoring as my extra duty assignment while teaching middle school and high school. I enjoy tutoring students because I experience the moment of “Ah ha, now I get it!” with them.

I believe that with proper classroom management and an interesting delivery of lessons, every student has the potential to learn and achieve academic success. I use a number of methods to introduce the concepts to my students, including hands-on activities, use of manipulatives, computer generated presentations, role-playing, textbooks, video, etc. I feel that if I can find the proper modality along with allowing a student to explore on his own, then a student can achieve success in learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I started substitute teaching in 1983 while I was working on my Master's Degree at California State University, Long Beach. I have been a substitute teacher in Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Glendale, and Palm Springs. I have had experience as a long term substitute in Senior English for a year at Palm Springs High School, also in Palm Springs, I did six months as a Special Education teacher at Cree Middle School. While I was in Glendale, I worked a year at Allen Continuation High School teaching English and Social Studies. I have had extensive experience preparing lesson plans, grading papers, helping students understand subject matter and providing parents with information about their child's work in class.
