I find I learn the most when I can relate a subject or theme to something current or more familiar to me. Finding something a student is interested in and trying to break down a complicated matter into simple, easy to remember parts when possible that they can relate to in an easy manner. I find this very effective with students who may have ADHD or just some trouble focusing on occasion. I have seven years of upper level education experience with a wide variety of subjects. Four of those years I was involved in teaching and tutoring other college students. I also have worked with younger students, mostly with biology, history and research writing. I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless. I believe that one should teach using a variety of methods because all kids do not learn the same way and each individual method shows something new each time.
