As a graduate student at the University of Idaho, I taught three years of various theatre classes. I spent the 2008-09 school year replacing the head of the theatre department at Centralia College in Centralia, WA. I have also taught at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, ID, and spent a year as a substitute teacher in the Coeur d'Alene School District #271. I have over a decade of experience working with students in diverse settings - from summer camps where I worked as a counselor and director, to a non-profit where I taught science programs to learners of all ages, to a formal classroom setting. I have earned a BS and MS degree in Natural Resources, which reflect my strong math, science, and social science background. I firmly believe that a good education must be adaptable, flexible, and incorporate a variety of learning styles if it is to be of maximum benefit to students. When teaching, I speak with my students about the kinds of activities they feel assist them most in retaining information as well as observing their learning style independently. I do my best to include activities that incorporate visual, kinesthetic, and oral learners. School isn’t always fun and interesting; it is called “work” for a reason. However, if I can’t make it fun I can at least make it engaging and that is what I strive for.
