In the past five years I have had experience teaching music to children from ages five through high school. During this time I have had many different students with different needs. I have always tried to teach my students to have a strong work ethic, and to be independent learners. I like to use positive reinforcement, and I like to motivate children by having them listen to music that inspires them. Music is a fun activity, but just like any subject in school, it take just as much discipline and hard work to get anything out of it. Also, U of R is a liberal arts university, which means I have been educated at a high level in a variety of subjects, such as English, Math, Spanish, Art, and Science. My analytical and grammatical skills have been developed by the many essays, research papers, and presentations I have completed. I have been working with children since I graduated from high school. I was a teachers assistant for the hearing impaired for 4 years and did some tutoring on the side for both deaf and hearing children. I attended college and received my bachelors degree in Psychology and then got a job as a teacher on an emergency credential and realized I loved teaching. When I graduated from college, I taught bilingual elementary kindergarten for 2 years on an emergency credential. I moved to Missouri in 1995 and since 1997 I have been a daycare director till recently. I enjoy seeing the pride and joy in each child when they learn something new.
