I am a an active learner and listener, so students and I are able to build relationships quickly and can focus on making learning engaging. Prior to working with any student, I always review the subject matter and prepare well in advance to tailor the lesson to the student's individual learning style. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. My love of kids lead me to get a Masters in Elementary Education. I taught third grade for three years and fourth grade one year in private Christian schools. I enjoyed being able to carry on the great Christian heritage of our country and our faith as Christians to the next generation. I tutored several students who were learning English as a second language. In the 2014/2015 school year I worked at a Montessori School. I was able to study montessori methods which help to develop the student's independence, confidence, curiosity, and concentration. I excel at teaching intensive phonics and addition/subtraction/multiplication/division facts. I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught. While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina.
