I have done student teaching at the high school level in Math, specifically, Geometry and Trigonometry. I created innovative new ways to use the materials on hand to reawaken students' natural mathematical curiosity and to exemplify the concepts of the courses. I have done one semester of long term substitute work in which I taught underprivileged children Physics and Physical Science. I had to design the curriculum from the ground up because they had rotating substitutes before I took over. Beyond that, I have taught numerous and varied college labs and recitations in the UNC physics department, and I have tutored for those same classes. I have also recently started tutoring high school students in the area. As a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I have a proven track record of success. I am currently pursuing a MS Degree at Full Sail University and my current GPA is a 4.0. I completed my BA degree in Music in 2007. While studying at UNC I took extensive course in Education and during that time was pursuing an Education Degree as part of the NC Teaching Fellows Program. I have always believed that a good teacher is the best tool to help students learn. Having personal experience with learning disabilities, I do not think that they prevent anyone from learning; rather, they provide students with a better understanding of themselves. Realizing that we all learn differently, I believe that teaching should incorporate multiple methods of presentation. I think that demonstrations and examples, which relate to everyday life, are two of the best methods when learning a new concept. I have experience with children and adults with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome, and found they perform best when interested. As a patient and understanding person, I adapt my teaching style to reflect the needs of each student.
