My comments on tutoring World History : In addition to American history, I also excelled in World history, as well, and continue studying it to this day.

I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.
I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.

I do not think that lecture or rote memorization are proper ways to educate a child. I believe that teachers affect a students learning not just through the subject but also through the real world examples that should be the core of all learning. I like observing students and assessing their needs. Then finding fun and instructive materials to assist them with their learning. With ESL students it is very important to find their areas of weakness and fill in the gaps. Every student has different needs. My teaching and tutoring experience began prior to completing the BA in Foreign Languages: I had been teaching and tutoring English and Latin to a few Italian students. After graduating and moving to the USA, I started tutoring Latin and Italian to American students. A Little Bit About Me...

As a high school student, I was very active in extracurricular activities. I participated in the rotary club, volunteering at local soup kitchens. I was also a member of the Newspaper, Quiz Bowl, Robotics Team, soccer and baseball throughout my high school career. Through volunteering at the Boys and Girls club, I was turned out to tutoring students in Algebra and Trigonometry. I spent my Junior and Senior year tutoring students in these areas of mathematics.

I like working with children of all ages. I believe that children of all ages and cultural backgrounds can learn if given a proper chance. I even managed to teach children in South Korea, when I didn't speak Korean at all and my students had limited English skills. I taught them through games and use of our workbooks and student books. I believe in making learning a fun experience with lots of games and an easy going manner. If the kid is bored or unhappy, it is going to make it much harder for the child to learn.
