A love of reading is the cornerstone to a love of learning.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and pre-medicine. I have experience working with children who have autism. Elementary education is important to me since it is the foundation upon which later learning is built. I graduated magna cum laude from Drury University, a private liberal arts college, in 1987, with a major in fine arts (photography and graphic design emphasis) and minor in communications (four years experience on the college newspaper). I also have 21 years of experience as an editor at weekly and daily newspapers in Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Working primarily at smaller newspapers, I have an extremely varied background of experiences - from writing "hard" news and features to on-the-job training for new reporters just out of college or new to the profession.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm currenty enrolled at OTC using my A+ to get my associates degree before transferring and getting my degree in Secondary Education with an Emphasis on English and Journalism. I took all Honors English classes throughout my junior high and high school years of education. I also have five years of journalism experience, four of those years as an editor for my paper. As far as elementary education goes, I tutored at the kindergarten level and have experience helping students with their homework from my experiences babysitting and watching children during local PTA meetings.
