Teacher with gentle touch - Very good at explaining new subj

I try to find the teaching style that is going to work for the student. Are they visual? Do they need to touch to learn? Finding out how to teach them and then helping them learn skills for independent study are just as important as the material.
Web manager and usability analyst as well as instructor. I have been asked at various jobs to teach training classes to my peers because of my ability to deliver an easy to understand lesson. I've been told I am very good at explaining a topic that someone has no experience with at all. I am on contract with NC States Computer Training Unit.

No drudgery!

I solve problems. I am a bioanalytical chemist and biomedical engineer. This profession requires using math, statistics, biology and chemistry at a high level on a daily basis as I develop products that improve healthcare. I have taught or tutored science and math from elementary to post-college level for over 25 years in diverse settings.
Student-led and interactive. No lectures. No drudgery. I focus on the process of solving problems. Restate the question. Draw diagrams. Figure out what information is missing. How can I get that information? Can it be calculated or is an estimate good enough? What sources are reliable?

bringing about the utmost potential within my students

I have tutored for many years and have a unique way of relating to those I wish to help. I receive designation as a professional writer from UNCW, along with a B.S. degree in finance. That which is able to best accomodate my students. As long as you can relate the information in a way that interests the student.

Best Tutoring By Far.....

I enjoy teaching any age student, but more than that I get satisfaction when that student attains their goal. I believe in using the Socratic method of teaching and allowing the student to get their own answers rather than just telling them. I seek to develop and foster great students who will attain excellent careers. This method can be adapted to fit any student of any age.

I earned a bachelor degree in Mathematics. During my undergraduate study, I was a teacher's assistance in statistics, where I availed myself to students that needed help with the class. I also tutored in Algebra 2. As a teacher, I volunteer my time after school to work with students that are having difficulties with their math assignments.
My metaphysical beliefs as a teacher is that you are presented with the opportunity to reach many lives and impact students whether they know it or not. I believe that all children have the potential to become effective leaders in the community. Although the learning style of students may differ, everyone is capable of learning. My job is to create an atmosphere that is conducive for every learner. In order to create an effective learning environment in the classroom, teachers need to be border crossers. A Little Bit About Me...

When I approach a student I've never worked with, my first priority is to make them feel comfortable by letting them see that I am a very nice, friendly, and compassionate person that they might like to have as a friend. Next I try to get them to tell me about themselves in some way (what they've been working on, their favorite subjects) to try to encourage them to speak freely with me about what they're thinking. Then, after personal rapport is established, I begin my academic approach to tutoring by finding out how they think based on their interests or common themes, and I try to connect the material to these things. Children have trouble learning, often because the addressed concepts don't relate to their lives. I strive to connect the material to them, demonstrate its influence on their interests, and allow them to greet the academic engagement as some sort of useful tool, not a ... read more
