I believe a solid foundation is the key th success.

I began working with pre-k age group as a lead teacher for the four year olds room. After leaving that placement I started working with high school aged students as a substitute. Working with these young adults reinforced my belief that if a student does not have the basic skills learned early in their education, it is very difficult to go back and relearn them. Have never tutored anyone before aside from helping my younger sister with her homework. I completed high school with a 3.5 GPA and am currently preparing to start my 2nd year of community college. Math has always been my best subject. In 11th grade I was enrolled in Algebra II honors, I then took a pre-college algebra course in 12th grade, took a similar course my first semester of college, and then took college algebra. I learned to read when I was 3 or 4 which was earlier than most people I was around. I finished in 16th place in my 5th grade spelling bee finals. Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects! I have worked well with children K-2. I focus on Sight Words, Fluency, and Comprehension. This is where I really start from where they are at and build on what they know. Then I slowly introduce new words or books to read and create new challenges in fun games and activities. I had a student go from the lowest reading group to the honor roll this year and now she loves to read! This is why I love my job!!!
