My comments on tutoring Psychology : Psychology was my minor and has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager.

Let's start out by saying I am definitely not your average tutor! Fun is vital to motivation, and I live on the stuff! I have been teaching for over fifteen years in a variety of environments, working in inclusive environments with children aged birth to twelve. I am now in my second year as a Special Education Teacher at a private school in DC that specializes in working with children who have Learning and Emotional Disabilities. I hold my M.Ed.HD in Special Education from GWU and a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. During the summer, I serve as the Behavior Intervention Specialist for Fairfax County Park Authority in Inclusion camps. Even in high school and college, I tutored peers and proofread papers. Psychology is one of my top subjects!

I am currently teaching Algebra 1 for Prince William County Public Schools. I teach for Special Education at an alternative day program. My undergrad was in Biology and Psychology, giving me knowledge in those subjects as well. Elementary, Middle, High School and College Tutor

I usually start with a diagnostic test to concentrate on weaker areas then come up with a weekly plan focusing on those areas. After a lesson, I usually give worksheets and sometimes online exercises, depending on the subject, and use videos and games if applicable.
I have tutored and mentored students for more than five years in Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, English and ESL. I have a degree in Psychology and a certificate in TEFL. I believe tutoring is a really helpful and useful addition to class and studying by oneself because it is reviewing class material once again and it is a way for students to be accountable to yet another person who knows the answers to their questions and can help them work to that answer as well.

More About This Tutor...

I work well as a one on one special education aide because my attention is soley on the activities and education of my students. I am a laid back worker, and extremely patient because I find that if I allow myself to get out of shape, then I am not an effective teacher and aide, and my students will see this. I strive to be a good role model to them all, even when I may be frustrated but I find constructive ways of venting such as listening to music during class quiet times and taking walks with my students during activity breaks and while they are in PE.
I have worked for one school year as a substitute for both Hanover County and Louisa County, I am Currently employed by Hanover County Public Schools as a teaching assistant while continuing my work on my graduate work. I will still be employed by hanover County Schools for the 2009-2010 School year.
