I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. A Little Bit About Me...

I have found that children are very comfortable with me, which makes the learning process flow more smoothly. I was trained to discover the problems that prevent children from learning to read and absorb written material. Children learn in different ways, and I try to individualize my teaching methods to suit the individual child.
After earning my teaching degree in English, I gained some middle school and high school teaching experience, then took a different path for some years. While earning my master's degree in reading education, I gained experience by helping teach children at Western Carolina University's reading clinic in Asheville. I have done some individual tutoring on my own, while searching for a position in my field. As an avid reader myself, I know the value of a sound reading ability.
