I am a seasoned veteran of working for a large agency with multiple responsibilities across the State of Virginia. I have been tutoring, mentoring, teaching, training, and instructing on many subjects during my career. I have passion and dedication to whatever subjects I teach and I plan to impart a sense of enthusiasm in the subject matter with my students. I also teach coursework at the University level.
My approach is to encourage students to define their learning goals and then to discover how the learning the content can help them achieve their goals. After watching a documentary on teachers teaching in the inner city, I decided to switch my major from Pre-Law to Elementary Education. I've always loved learning and I wanted to be able to convey that same message to my students. In college, I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Psy. of the Exceptional Child. This minor allowed me to study children who are gifted and children with special needs. I love teaching high school students and I realize that each student learns in a different style. While some find it easy to learn in the classroom setting, many need individual attention which is where tutors come in. Teachers simply cannot give each student the individual attention that they might need. Also, teachers need to be hands on in their delivery. Too many teachers simply lecture, which I have found very few students that effective learn by having a lecturing teacher.

I graduated from high school with honors from a school that never pushed the effectiveness of attending college to students. I maintained my focus and attended Virginia State University in the fall of 2006. My mother was my inspiration, so much that I ventured towards science as my field of study.
