MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY Let me start by saying that in my family we have a lot of teachers, so it runs in my blood?. I teach Economics and Business classes. I have been teaching for the past 13 years so I have plenty of experience. I meet 40 new students a month. I taught for several universities online and on campus. Economics, my favorite course to teach is viewed by many as boring; there are right and wrong ways to approach questions, and finite answers to many questions. Each child is different. I always try to notice and acknowledge what benefits each student, as I think this applies to all forms of teaching from academics to athletics. Getting on their level is what ultimately benefits the child from the get go and gains their interest. If I'm interested, then the child is interested. Upon graduation with a degree in Business Management, I worked various jobs and decided that I wanted to become a teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I took Spanish throughout elementary, middle, and high school. I then took two Spanish courses in college. I've travelled to Latin America on four occasions and did fieldwork for my MA dissertation in Spanish. My level of spoken and written Spanish is high enough for tutoring at lower to intermediate levels. I spent 10 months in Brussels, Belgium. While living there I shared a flat with two native French speakers. I also took private French lessons for 5 months. I was also able to carryout day to day activities such as getting/giving directions, shopping at the grocery store, and going to the laundromat using my French. My French skills are strong enough for tutoring only at the most basic levels.

After sub teaching the last couple of years I have found most kids want to learn but need a lot of "structure". If their personal "structure" isn't there it is difficult for them. This is also true for kids who are advanced. I believe in no cell phones, electronic devices, and trying to figure out what each child strengths and weaknesses are and then use those strengths to help them learn. I am not against having background music playing during homework time because it doesn't bother other children. It is a problem however in the classroom.

I graduated from UNF in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in the field of Management. The degree required classes in Accounting, Finance, Algebra and Economics. Mathematics has risen to be one of my preferred subjects, tutoring this subject for a year to date.
I do believe that all children have the ability to learn the subjects however not all children are in the right mind to do so.
