My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : As I am very well knowledgeable in Algebra , pre-algebra is also a subject that I am familiar with.

Laid back but serious as student learning subject matter is the most important factor in yuoring.
Have tutored for five years with Wyzant, Tutoring Center of Herndon and on my own. My main concern is too make sure student is confortable in his/her understanding the subject material. Pre-Algebra is one of my top subjects! This and Algebra I are my two strongest areas. I consider "pre-algebra" to be the same as the cumulative middle school course called "8th grade mathematics" as opposed to "math" which I would consider "elementary math." When I got certified to teach in Virginia, this was my focus! The reason: This is the foundation for all math that follows--including Algebra I.
