Experienced. Effective. The logical choice.

I have always enjoyed teaching others sharing my love of learning. I find it most effective to use a variety of methods to successfully teach information. Material is best learned when it can be easily understood by the student and has practical applications for everyday life. I am not the type of tutor to just hand out answers to problems. Learning is a journey. I have a map but you have the wheels

During my time at the LRC, I developed a teaching style where I first understood the learning style of the student (i.e. visual or auditory) and then discovered why they wanted tutoring, wanted to focus on, and what they wanted to accomplish. I would then delve into the subject matter at hand, drawing, discussing, or having them draw any specific process or problem. Finally, I would have them tell me what they understood from the process that we just discussed. If I felt the student was confident in their abilities I would test them, if I found that they were not very confident in their abilities, I would discuss the lesson and confirm that they understood. In these cases, I would also try to work on their academic confidence.
