A Little Bit About Me...

I am a special education teacher and have worked with a wide range of students with various abilities as well as disabilities: mental retardation, learning disabilities, emotional disorders, and autism. I remediate students with and without disabilities who have done poorly on SOL tests as well as struggling readers. I have taught all subjects at the middle school level and am highly qualified to teach English and math as based on No Child Left Behind (NCLB). I have tutored for 2 years in the afternoons in all subjects, but main concentration being in middle school English and math.
I believe that all children can learn but they don't all learn the same way. I will be graduating in May 2011 with a Masters of Arts in Teaching for Special Education and will then obtain a teaching license for Special Education, K-12. During my Masters program I have taught students in large groups and small groups, performed assessments on students, and planned daily lesson plans and curriculum for students in a variety of subjects. Through my years of higher education I have gained a love for students, children, and education for everyone.
