I've always been interested in foreign languages and other cultures. While living in New York City, I hosted many international visitors and always enjoyed coaching them on their English. So a couple years ago, I decided to get a certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at The New School in New York City. The program focused on practical techniques and emphasized lessons that integrate grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I have been working with preschool to high school age students since 2004. I have always had tutoring positions, whether it was for my peers in college, volunteering for the Salvation Army, or running after school programs after graduating. I am a PA certified tutor, with conflict resolution, mentor, and CERT training (Community Emergency Rescue Team). After receiving a BS in Business Administration from a liberal arts college, I worked for several years in the business world. The majority of my work experience has been in the banking and finance industry. It was through these experiences that I realized my true passion for learning could be shared through training and teaching. The past two years I have been studying to earn my teaching certification.
