A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with children and understand that everyone has a unique learning style. An effective teacher works with this while exercising patience, care and consideration for students as they guide them to subject mastery. My preferred method of teaching is show and do. I show the technique or concept, and then give the student a chance to practice and demonstrate that they understand. The student learns best when they can find or develop the answer themselves. We then work to build on what they understand until they master the subject. As a recipient of an Associates Degree Summa Cum Laude; I have and more importantly my students have experienced success within and outside of the classroom. Twenty-one out of twenty-four 4th graders under my tutelage increased MAP scores by over 20 points on average when the objective was just for 8 points. My proficiency in instructing in reading, writing, English Language Arts, and comprehension led to me being entrusted with conducting an enrichment program at my school over 1,300 students that led to me receiving 2 awards of Excellence of Service Award and Paraprofessional of the Month. My PLT scores were in the top 15% with 190 out of 200 that led to a Recognition of Excellence Certificate indicating this proficiency.
